The Bunker
Experience live folk music at the Bunker while enjoying a unique ambience and listening to the very best local and visiting overseas singers and musicians.
Monday nights at the Devonport Folk Club offers something very different in the way of live music at the old command post, known as the Bunker, on Mt. Victoria.
The Club has been running very successfully for some 46 years, with music that involves all ages and cultures – and you don’t have to clap if you don’t like it!
On summer nights, with windows open, The Bunker has the best view in town, and winter nights are warm and cosy with a huge log fire. Free tea, coffee and milo are available in the interval.
The Club meets every Monday night and some Sundays,
Doors opening at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
There are ‘club nights’ (similar to an open mic), ukulele and sing-around sessions, kids nights, songwriter nights and concerts, with local artists, beginners, and overseas performers.
All at a modest door charge. We also come ‘down from the mountain’ to hold a free annual Folk in the Park event in February where families picnic under the trees on Windsor Reserve, and listen to their favourite folk groups at the Rotunda.
Keep an eye on the programme for details, and contact us to book tickets for concerts as seats are limited and they sell out quite quickly. And if you love banjos and some of that good old timey mountain music, the Auckland Bluegrass & Old Time Country Music Club meets on the 2nd Wednesday at 8pm. Their programme can been seen on www.aucklandbluegrass.co.nz
